Colin has worked in the building control profession for over 30 years in both the public and private sectors, working on a variety of projects, including high rise residential and commercial developments as well as involvement with Hinkley Point C nuclear power station. Colin has also provided technical training for the RIBA and RICS, is an RICS APC Chairman and Assessor as well as being a RICS Registered Expert Witness. Colin’s role within the Building Safety Programme is to lead the operational policy development for the building control function for higher risk buildings.
In a career spanning nearly 40 years, Paul has worked for some of the UK’s leading international construction companies, and currently runs his own business providing advice to developers, contractors and investors. As a Past-President and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Paul is actively engaged in raising awareness of key issues affecting the construction sector. In 2017, Paul chaired the working group on procurement as part of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire and is currently a member of the Industry Safety Steering Group, providing strategic oversight of the Government’s Building Safety programme.
Peter has been appointed onto the Interim Industry Competence Committee (IICC) and chairs its Capacity and Capability sub-committee in support of the new Building Safety Regulator on matters of competence. A Fellow of the CIOB and RICS, Peter was a Senior Academic and Dean of one of the largest Schools of the Built Environment in the UK before leaving to establish his own consultancy - Solvere Ltd. Other roles include membership of the Competency Steering Group, Steering Group membership of the competence frameworks BSI PAS 8670, 8671 (Principal Designer) and 8673 (Building Safety Manager) and industry lead for the development of BSI PAS 8672 (Principal Contractor).
Sean is a senior associate in Gowling WLG's contentious construction team with considerable experience in construction litigation and dispute resolution. He has acted for a wide range of parties including national house builders, developers/funders, main contractors, subcontractors and end user employers. He has particular experience in building safety matters and is actively involved in both prosecuting and defending a number of such claims, including being one of a small number of lawyers nationally to have litigated cladding disputes, arising as a result of the Grenfell tragedy, to trial.

David has worked in Building Control for 20 years and currently leads a talented team of Building Control professionals at Premier Guarantee who help clients ensure the provision of health and safety for the end-users of new buildings.
Dan has more than 20 years’ senior management experience in the affordable housing sector, with extensive building safety, technical and strategic leadership expertise in asset management. This includes experience in repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical, compliance and planned investment in a range of organisations including national housing associations and local government, with up to 120,000 properties. Dan has led the Building Safety directorate at Clarion since 2017.
James has worked within the property, building and insurance industry for over 20 years. He understand the needs of the house building sector and believes that Premier Guarantee can help the sector achieve its goals. As regional director for London he heads up the team for Premier Guarantee’s largest region and oversees contractors and developers, working on developments from one property to full scale regeneration projects across the capital.
What impact will the new regulatory regime have on tall buildings? What of the economic challenges that lie ahead? It may come as little surprise that the City of London and Canary Wharf areas remain as busy as ever, but subtle trends are emerging elsewhere.
